How to Get Your Own Pandora Station
Let's face it, this is the 21st century and the old way of doing things is rapidly dying out. Sure, you can still sell your soul to the devil, land a major record contract and get world-wide radio play, but there's another way. If your music is up to par you can submit to Pandora and get your own station. Your own station on Pandora is an invaluable resource which can help build a world-wide fan base reaching literally millions of people and the best part is that it's free.
Once you have your album completed and distributed (Read our blog post on how to sell your music online) you're almost there. Pandora requires that your album be for sale on Amazon as a physical CD. If you distribute through Tunecore there's an option to sell physical copies of your CD on Amazon, but if you distributed through CDBaby then you have one more step before you can submit to Pandora.
Createspace is a company owned by Amazon that allows you to submit your album for on demand CD production using the "Disk on Demand" feature. The program is free to use and works very similarly to other distribution services requiring only the album tracks and artwork. Once you upload your songs and submit your artwork (Createspace provides all necessary artwork templates) it takes a few days to get approved. Once approved you can either order a proof copy of your CD or finalize the project for distribution. It generally takes about 7-10 days for your album to appear on Amazon after it's finalized.
Once your CD is available on Amazon you can submit the album to Pandora for consideration here. It takes anywhere from a few weeks to a few months before you'll hear back from Pandora, so hang tight.
